Terms of Service
Last updated
These terms govern your use of Receptaria. By creating an account you agree to them.
Receptaria is sold to businesses. If you are signing up on behalf of one, you confirm you may bind it.
What the service does
Receptaria answers inbound telephone calls using an AI receptionist you configure. It can answer questions about your business, book appointments into a calendar you connect, send a message, or transfer the caller to a person.
We provide a phone number, or answer on a number you already publish and forward to us.
It is not for emergencies
This is the most important clause here. Receptaria does not connect callers to emergency services and must never be used as, or advertised as, a line for urgent or life-safety matters. It cannot dial 911, 999, 112 or any equivalent, and it cannot recognise an emergency reliably.
If your business receives calls where a delay could cause harm, you must route those calls to a human line. You are responsible for making that arrangement.
The receptionist can be wrong
The receptionist is generated by a language model. It can misunderstand a caller, state something inaccurate about your business, book the wrong time, or fail to transfer when it should have.
You are responsible for reviewing what it says on your behalf. The call log and transcripts exist so you can. We do not warrant that any individual call will be handled correctly.
Your account
Keep your credentials secure and tell us promptly if you believe they have been compromised. You are responsible for activity under your account.
You must give accurate information, including the regulatory address required to issue a phone number. Supplying false details to a telecoms regulator can invalidate your number.
Acceptable use
You may not use Receptaria to:
- Make or facilitate unsolicited marketing calls, automated dialling campaigns, or any calling that breaches telemarketing law where you or the caller are located.
- Impersonate another business or person, or present the receptionist as a human where the law requires disclosure that it is not.
- Handle calls concerning emergencies, urgent medical triage, or crisis support.
- Break the law, infringe someone's rights, or attempt to disrupt or reverse engineer the service.
Telling callers they are being recorded
Every call is transcribed and the transcript is stored. Whether you must tell callers, and in what terms, depends on where you and they are. Some jurisdictions require all-party consent, others require a spoken notice.
You control the greeting the receptionist speaks, and therefore you are responsible for meeting that obligation. Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with the data itself.
Phone numbers
Numbers are provisioned through Twilio and are subject to its terms and to the regulator's rules for the country concerned. A number remains available while your subscription is active.
If you release a number, or your account is closed, the number returns to the pool and cannot be recovered. Port it out first if you intend to keep it.
Plans, trial and payment
Paid plans begin with a 14-day free trial. Unless you cancel before it ends, the subscription continues at the published price and renews monthly.
Payments are processed by Stripe. Fees are charged in advance and are not refundable for a period already begun, except where the law requires otherwise. Plans carry a monthly allowance of included call minutes, measured by the duration of answered calls; exceeding it may require an upgrade.
You can cancel at any time from the billing page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period.
Third-party services
Receptaria depends on Twilio, OpenAI, Stripe, and any calendar provider you connect. Their availability is not within our control, and an outage at one of them can interrupt call handling.
Connecting a calendar grants us access on your behalf; you can disconnect it at any time.
Your content and ours
Your configuration, business information, call records and transcripts remain yours. You grant us the licence needed to operate the service: to process calls, generate responses, and show you your own history.
The software, interface and brand remain ours.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that is used for the calling practices listed above, or where we are required to by law or by an upstream provider.
We will give notice where we reasonably can.
Liability
The service is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for lost profits, lost business, or indirect or consequential loss, including business lost through a call the receptionist handled badly or did not answer.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes, law and contact
We may amend these terms. Material changes will be notified to account holders rather than posted silently.
